A Manitowoc man was arrested after being caught driving under the influence for a fifth time.
The Manitowoc Police Department was called to the intersection of South 10th Street and Columbus Street just after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday (May 9th) for the report of a three-car accident.
Once on the scene, an officer made contact with one of the drivers involved, a 64-year-old male who was still behind the wheel of his vehicle.
When speaking to the 64-year-old, the officer noted that his speech was “incredibly slurred.”
The driver continued to tell authorities that he had consumed an entire 12-pack of Bud Light while playing cards before getting behind the wheel.
The 64-year-old was then transported to a local hospital to perform Standard Field Sobriety Tests (SFST).
While at the hospital, the suspect was so intoxicated that he was unable to complete the SFST and was arrested due to “his driving behavior, his admittance of consuming alcohol, his inability to balance, slurred speech, and inability to perform SFST’s.”
The 64-year-old has been charged with Operating While Under the Influence, his fifth such offense.
