Funding from the state will help continue a project being done by the Wisconsin Maritime Museum.
$975,593 is being given to the museum as part of their Maritime Heritage Center Revitalization Project.
The project includes developing a 20,000-square-foot area of the museum’s asphalt parking lot adjacent to the storage building into a maritime heritage plaza and garden.
The building’s interior will also be converted into a multifunctional space for educational programs, entertainment events, and other activities.
The Wisconsin Maritime Museum previously received a grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation for continued façade work.
$50 million from the state will go toward 70 other projects in communities across the Badger State.
Governor Tony Evers says he’s proud of the work done to secure the funding for the programs, adding he “looks forward to the State Building Commission joining me in supporting this good work by releasing the $50 million in funding for these critical building projects so our communities can continue to grow and thrive.”
