An officer-involved shooting death is under investigation in Oshkosh.
Attorney General Josh Kaul has reported that the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation is conducting the investigation into an incident that occurred Sunday morning in the 100 block of North Washburn Street.
An officer was responding to a report of a stolen firearm at 8:15 a.m., when they made contact with the subject in the parking lot of a business.
The unnamed subject was said to be non-compliant and began walking towards the officer.
The subject then reportedly pulled a firearm from their waistline, which is when the officer discharged their weapon, striking the subject.
Lifesaving measures were administered at the scene and at a local hospital, but the subject died from their injuries.
The officer was wearing their body camera and has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.
The officer and the Oshkosh Police Department are cooperating with DCI during the investigation.
