A man who stole water bottles and a backpack from Walmart has been sentenced.
35-year-old Fong Vang was found guilty due to no contest pleas on charges of Misdemeanor Retail Theft, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, while charges of Misdemeanor Retail Theft and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping were dismissed but read into the record.
Judge Robert Dwayne withheld his sentence, instead ordering Vang to spend two years on probation and pay nearly $140 in restitution to Walmart, along with warrant and court fees.
A Walmart employee watched Vang fill a backpack with water bottles and some tea kettles, and said he left without paying.
When confronted outside, Vang fled, but was later found by police.
As part of his probation, Vang was ordered to maintain absolute sobriety and maintain some combination of full-time employment, schooling, or work search.
