A recent fundraiser by the Knights of Columbus supporting Old Glory Honor Flight was a huge success.
The Knights stopped by the Seehafer Broadcasting Studios on Thursday, where they hand delivered at $1,500 check in support of the program.
The money was raised through a brat fry held at Rob’s Family Market, once again showcasing the amazing generosity of the Manitowoc County community.
Ralph Schleis, the Faithful Navigator with the Manitowoc Knights, explained that veterans are a big focus for them, especially Old Glory Honor Flight.
“We’ve been doing this ever since they started the Honor Flight,” he explained. “The Knights have been greeting the veterans when they come back.”
Treasurer and Honor Guard Commander Mike Brunet knows firsthand the impact the Honor Flight has on veterans, as he went on a flight last year.
“It’s amazing,” he said. “The organization and the volunteers that get involved in this. These guys and gals deserve this.”
It costs $500 to send one veteran on the trip, so this donation will support three veterans in their trip to Washington, D.C. through Old Glory Honor Flight.
Those who wish to donate can bring cash or a check to the Seehafer Broadcasting Studios, located at 3730 Mangin Street in Manitowoc.
