The City of Two Rivers is moving forward with a new apartment development.
The city council on Monday approved the construction of two, three-story, 26-unit apartment buildings on the former Hansen’s Florist’s site at 3000 Forest Avenue.
City documents explain that the project aligns with the city’s vision for additional housing and strengthening existing economic development.
City Manager Kyle Kordell says landscaping along the front has been removed, and a secondary driveway is gated.
He hopes that shovels will be in the ground in October for the new apartment building.
This would be the first major apartment project the city has done in almost 20 years.
A developer tried to build apartments on the former Eggers Property site a couple of years ago, but that project fell through.
