It’s set to be a weekend of celebration at a local university.
Lakeland University will honor its students’ hard work on Saturday (May 9th) at the institution’s 164th commencement ceremony. In total, 519 Lakeland students will walk the stage to receive their degrees, including 397 undergraduate degrees and 122 graduate degrees.
Saturday’s proceedings will consist of three separate ceremonies.
At 10:00 a.m., the Lakeland grad students will receive their diplomas, followed by the evening and online student graduation ceremony at 1:00 p.m., and the traditional undergraduate degree ceremony will take place at 4:00 p.m.
Tom Farley, community outreach director for Recovery.com, will speak at the first ceremony.
David Black, Lakeland University president emeritus, and Jane Parke Batten, a philanthropist and civic leader, will speak at 1:00 p.m., and Virginia Wesleyan University President Scott Miller will be the traditional student commencement ceremony speaker.
