Improvements to a concessions stand in Two Rivers are being put on hold.
The city was made aware that the Wisconsin Department of Administration declined its 2026 grant application for the Neshotah Beach concessions stand building renovation project.
$255,000 would have covered nearly 50% of the total project costs.
City Manager Kyle Kordell told the city council last night that the city would move forward only if at least half the cost was covered by outside funding.
The City said it recommended suspending plans for a larger renovation, despite strong community interest in some upgrades. Kordell gave the council three options.
One option would be to do nothing; however, the concessions stand would then have to close due to health code requirements.
The second option would be to do a smaller renovation, while the third option would just get the concessions stand up to code.
Council Members Adam Wachowski and Katherine Dahlke say they would like to see the bare minimum done to complete public health updates.
However, the city council’s consensus is not to do anything right now.
