A Manitowoc man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop this weekend.
On Saturday (May 2nd), an officer with the Manitowoc Police Department observed a vehicle at the intersection of East Reed Avenue and Memorial Drive with a faulty brake light being driven by a man known to be a frequent user of methamphetamine.
After briefly following the vehicle, the officer activated their emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop.
During the stop, the driver gave conflicting stories and was acting nervously.
Given his known history with drugs and his behavior, the officer called in K9 Rolo to perform an open-air sniff of the vehicle.
Upon activation, K9 Rolo alerted authorities to the presence of drugs, and a search was conducted.
During the search, a gem bag containing eight pills of Zolpidem, a schedule four drug, and 0.3 grams of methamphetamine was found.
Once the illegal substances were found, the 42-year-old suspect was placed under arrest and transported to the Manitowoc County Jail on referred charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Schedule Four Drug.
