Several local teams are setting themselves apart from their counterparts.
BASEBALL
The Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team tries for its fifth win in its last six games this afternoon as they host the Tritons of Notre Dame Academy of Green Bay in FRCC play at Bruce Steinbecker Field.
The Ships are coming off a 7 to 2 victory over Plymouth Friday afternoon on “Ships Baseball Alumni Day”, scoring all seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
This is a very important game for both teams as they are amongst several teams trying to stay within striking distance of league-leading Bay Port.
In fact, just two games separate second-place Green Bay Preble (6-3) from Notre Dame and West De Pere, who are tied for seventh place at 4 and 5.
The Ships are 5 and 4 in the FRCC and look for a season series sweep of the Tritons, having posted a 2 to 1 victory back on April 7th in Green Bay.
The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown out at 4:30 p.m.
Other baseball games this afternoon include Roncalli hosting New Holstein, Valders visiting Manitowoc Lutheran, Two Rivers traveling to Reedsville, Kiel entertaining Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan North is at Green Bay Preble, Random Lake is home for Port Washington, and St. Lawrence Seminary plays a doubleheader at Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah.
SOFTBALL
Manitowoc Lincoln looks for their third consecutive victory as they travel to Pulaski for an FRCC game against the Red Raiders.
The Ships try to earn a season series split after dropping a 9-7 decision to the Red Raiders at Citizens Park on April 9th.
The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
Other games include Roncalli hosting state-ranked New Holstein, Two Rivers traveling to Brillion, and Valders is home for the Kiel Raiders.
GIRLS SOCCER
There’s arguably been no more dominating girls’ soccer teams in northeast Wisconsin than the Kiel Raiders and Sheboygan Falls Falcons, and they’ll meet under the lights at Fifrick Field in Kiel with first place on the line.
Kiel is undefeated (9-0 3-0 in the EWC).
The Raiders have recorded seven shutouts, five consecutively, and have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 50-2.
However, they have the toughest test of their season this evening.
The Falcons are tied with the Raiders atop the EWC (3-0 7-1-2 overall).
They’ve recorded a whopping eight shoutouts this season, seven consecutively, and have outscored their opponents by a score of 49-3.
Match time is 7:00 p.m.
Elsewhere, Valders heads to New Holstein, Denmark plays at Green Bay West, Kewaunee travels to Sturgeon Bay, Beaver Dam entertains Ashwaubenon, and Luxemburg-Casco travels to Shawano to battle the Hawks.
