
By the end of today, the Mishicot High School Girls Softball team will have played three games in 24 hours.
After a matchup with Peshtigo yesterday (Friday), the Indians board a bus and head to Denmark for games against the host Vikings and a very good Medford Red Raider team.
Mishicot will see Denmark first in a battle of two defending state champions. The Indians (7 and 5 as of Friday) are the defending Division Four champions, while the Vikings captured the Division Two title last June and are in the midst of another good season, leading the Northeast Conference and sporting an overall record of 9 and 2 as of Friday. The first pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.
Medford is one of the better teams in the state, regardless of division. The Red Raiders lead the Great Northern Conference at 7-0 and are 11-0 overall, ranked third in the MaxPreps Division Two poll and sixth overall in the state.
In one of the biggest games of the year, Medford knocked off the top-ranked team in Division Two and the state in conference rival Mosinee by a score of 4 to 3 on Tuesday.
Senior Addison Brahmer leads the Red Raiders in nearly every offensive category, while senior pitcher Rylee Hraby has walked only seven batters while striking out 133 in just 62. 2 innings of work. The Indians and Red Raiders are scheduled to play at 2 p.m., with Medford and Denmark at noon.
There’s one other game of local interest as Roncalli hosts EWC, leading and state-ranked (third in Division Three) New Holstein.
In high school baseball today, Two Rivers hosts Freedom and Shiocton. The Raiders will only play Freedom at 12:30, while Shiocton and Freedom will play first at 10 a.m. Mishicot heads to Roncalli, Plymouth makes the short trip to Sheboygan Falls, Cedar Grove-Belgium heads to Whitefish Bay, Denmark plays a doubleheader at Wrightstown, and Hilbert will take on Florence at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.
In High School Soccer, Kewaunee entertains Sevastopol/ Gibraltar, and Cedar Grove-Belgium continues play at a tournament in Bettendorf, Iowa, against Oak Park and River Park High School of Illinois.
The Manitowoc Lincoln boys’ golf team participates in the MACC-Fund Invitational at La Belle Golf Club in Oconomowoc, and the Manitowoc Lincoln boys’ tennis team continues play in the De Pere Invitational.
