Residents in Sheboygan will have one last chance to see inside Urban Middle School before construction begins.
The Sheboygan Area School District is inviting the community to visit Urban on May 11th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for one final open house, as work is slated to begin after the school year at both Urban and Farnsworth Middle Schools.
Initial work to be completed at Urban will begin on the building’s west side and includes the removal of the current auditorium and the addition of a new, highly secured main entrance and classrooms.
This final open house gives those interested a chance to see the current state of the facility and ask questions about what construction crews will be doing over the summer and the coming years.
Both the Farnsworth and Urban projects were made possible by the passing of the November 24 referendum, which received support from 65% of voters in the district.
An official groundbreaking ceremony is tentatively scheduled at both schools for early June, while construction is anticipated to be completed by August of 2028.
More information on planned work through the referendum is available to view by visiting sheboygan.k12.wi.us.
