An Appleton woman who was struck by a car earlier this month has died.
The Appleton Police Department was called to the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Meade Street just before 7:00 a.m. on the morning of April 9th on a report of a two-vehicle crash.
It was determined that a 17-year-old male from Appleton was drunk behind the wheel when he failed to stop at a red light.
He struck another vehicle containing 72-year-old Margaret Hopfensperger and her husband.
Margaret would die from her injuries while her husband is still hospitalized.
The teen was arrested at the scene, but now he faces charges of Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle, Homicide by Use of a Vehicle with a Prohibited Alcohol Content, and Injury by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle Causing Great Bodily Harm.
The teen’s name has not been released, and the crash remains under investigation.
