There are a couple of local baseball and softball teams looking to continue their early season success.
Manitowoc Lincoln tries for its fourth consecutive victory this afternoon as they travel to West De Pere to battle the Phantoms in an FRCC baseball game.
The Ships (5-3 and 7-5 overall) have defeated state-ranked Green Bay Preble, Green Bay Southwest, and De Pere during this stretch by a combined score of 22 to 7.
Most importantly, they have moved into a tie for second in the FRCC with Green Bay Preble, as Bay Port sets the pace, having yet to lose in conference play (8-0).
West De Pere comes into today’s game with a record of 3- 5 in conference play and 6- 7 overall.
This is the first of two meetings between these schools this season, with the first pitch set for 4:30 at Westwood Elementary School.
Elsewhere, Brillion, winners of 10 straight games and currently leading Kiel by a half-game in the EWC, hosts the Chilton Tigers, Kiel and New Holstein will play a doubleheader in New Holstein, Manitowoc Lutheran goes for a sweep of its home and home series with Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah in Elkhart Lake, Mishicot will look to do likewise in Hilbert against The Wolves, Two Rivers travels to Sheboygan Falls, and Roncalli visits Valders.
Also, Reedsville travels to Fox Crossing to play St. Mary Catholic, Pulaski hosts Sheboygan North, unbeaten Kewaunee hosts Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy, Random Lake looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season to Division One Homestead, plays at Ozaukee, Sheboygan Lutheran entertains Oostburg, and Kohler/Sheboygan Christian hosts Cedar Grove-Belgium.
In girls softball, Manitowoc Lutheran travels to Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah on the back end of a home-and-home series this afternoon in a Big East North matchup.
The Lancers took Tuesday’s game by a score of 8-3 and extended their current winning streak to three games to climb above .500 for the first time this season (4-3) and are part of a three-way tie for third in conference with Reedsville and Hilbert (2-3).
The Resorters are 1-4 in conference and were 3-6 on the season heading into yesterday’s contest with Kiel.
The first pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Mishicot tries to stay perfect in The Big Eat North as they head to Hilbert to battle The Wolves.
The Indians (5-0- 6-5) scored four runs in the first two innings on Tuesday to defeat Hilbert 7-2.
Manitowoc Lincoln looks for a season series sweep against Sheboygan North as the Golden Raiders come to town.
The Ships won the first meeting back on April 7th by a score of 18-4.
Also, Two Rivers looks to snap a three-game losing streak as they host Chilton, Kiel heads to Brillion, and Reedsville pays a visit to St. Mary Catholic.
