An effort to get unused medications out of local homes has been deemed a major success.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office has said that a total of 352.8 pounds of medication was collected this past Saturday (April 25th) as part of Drug Take Back Day.
This was a continued effort by local agencies, which have properly collected and disposed of 1,124.5 pounds of unwanted, unused, and expired medications so far in 2026 across all of Manitowoc County.
The location that has collected the most this year is the Manitowoc Police Department at 301 pounds, followed by the Two Rivers Police Department, which has collected just under 250 pounds.
Reflecting on another successful Drug Take Back Day, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office closed by saying, “We’re proud to partner with Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc Police Department, Manitowoc County Recycling & Compost, and Healthiest Manitowoc County to help our community safely dispose of unwanted medications and keep them out of the wrong hands.”
