You don’t have to leave Manitowoc to catch Kentucky Derby Fever.
Salute To Everyone, located at 1107 South 10th Street, is throwing its 6th annual Kentucky Derby Party this Saturday (May 2nd).
Owner Derek Felber tells SeehaferNews.com that guests will even get the chance to hang out with a real Derby Horse.
“He’s in the bandshell in the backyard,” Derek revealed. “His name is Rollie, and this is his third year he’s spending with us for the Kentucky Derby. I made a nice rose beret for him that he’ll wear, and all are welcome to take a picture with him in the backyard.”
Felber says when he held the first iteration, he didn’t know if it would take off, but to his surprise, it’s been a hit and growing in interest every year.
“We’ll be making mint juleps and have the juke box on with live music later at night,” he explained. “You can watch the Derby coverage, then head out back to get a picture with Rollie. Wear your best derby hat for a chance of winning some great prizes. It’ll be a great time.”
The 152nd “Run for the Roses” will be held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, and serves as the first leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown.
The Preakness on May 16th in Laurel, Maryland, and the Belmont Stakes on June 6th comprise the other two legs.
This year’s field features 20 horses competing for arguably the greatest title in horse racing, with a scheduled post time of 5:57 p.m.
Ladies are encouraged to dress in their derby best, with festivities beginning at 2:00 p.m. and pictures with Rollie starting at 2:30 p.m.
