The trial for a woman charged in a fatal drunk driving crash in Brown County has been delayed.
68-year-old Cheryl Mitchell was supposed to be going on trial this week as she faces two counts each of Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle, Injury by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle, and Injury With Use of a Vehicle with Passengers Under the Age of 16.
However, FOX11 reports that, during her pre-trial conference yesterday (April 28th), her defense attorney asked for an extension to review the recently received crash reconstruction report and medical records.
That extension was approved, and a plea deal is also reportedly being discussed.
Mitchell was allegedly behind the wheel of a vehicle that crashed into another on I-43 near the State Highway 96 Ramp in New Denmark.
She admitted to drinking three glasses of wine with her nieces before getting in the car.
A husband and wife were injured in the crash, while their son died from his injuries two days after the crash.
Mitchell is now due for her trial in June.
