Manitowoc Lincoln grad Davis Heinzen may not have heard his name called at the NFL Draft, but he is still getting a chance to prove himself.
Heinzen, who holds the record for most catches, receiving yards, and touchdown catches for a tight end in the 100+ year history of Manitowoc Lincoln football, has earned a rookie minicamp invite from the New Orleans Saints.
Going undrafted is far from a death nail for a career.
Current Ships head football coach Evan Smith is a prime example, as he went undrafted only to forge a successful 10-year career in the NFL.
Heinzen played a majority of his college career at Central Michigan before transferring to Wisconsin for his final season.
There were zero Badgers selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, which is the first time since 1978 that Wisconsin had no names called.
