The City of Two Rivers will be improving safety at some crosswalks.
The city will move forward with installing new pedestrian crossing signals, known as HAWK beacons, at Memorial Drive and 12th Street, as well as at Memorial Drive and Madison Street.
City staff says the crossings are being installed to improve safety along Memorial Drive, where traffic volumes and expectations for pedestrian protection continue to grow.
The signals are designed to provide a safer, more visible crossing option for pedestrians while keeping traffic flow.
Money for the crossing signals will come from TIF District 12 instead of borrowing it.
The city says that it allows them to invest in public safety improvement without adding pressure to property taxes or the city’s General Fund.
Construction on the crossing beacons won’t start until 2027.
