It will be a busy day on local ball diamonds and soccer pitches.
BASEBALL
After a 3-0 start, the Roncalli baseball team has dropped three of its last four, including one to undefeated Kiel Tuesday night. The rematch takes place this afternoon at Roncalli. The Raiders have won five straight to open their season in large part due to excellent plate discipline. They have a team batting average of. 391 and an OPS of 1.056 and have drawn 31 walks through five games, an average of 6.2 per game. The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 4:30 p.m.
Manitowoc Lutheran tries for a split of a two-game series with visiting Reedsville at Lancer Circle. The Panthers held off the Lancers 9-6 on Tuesday.
Brillion, off to a 7-2 start and winners of six straight, travels to Two Rivers to battle the Raiders. The Lions scored 73 runs during this streak, including 19 in a home victory over the Raiders Tuesday night in Brillion.
Other games on the diamond include Valders visiting Chilton, Mishicot entertains Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah, Undefeated Random Lake puts their 9-0 record on the line as they host Howards Grove, Sheboygan Lutheran hosts Chilton, Kohler/Sheboygan Christian travels to Ozaukee, Hilbert hosts St. Mary Catholic, Denmark is scheduled to play Clintonville, Kewaunee heads north to Sevastopol, Green Bay NEW Lutheran entertains Oconto, Green Bay East is home for Winneconne, Southern Door is at Gibraltar/Washington Island, and Luxemburg Casco hosts The Little Chute Mustangs.
GIRLS SOCCER
The Manitowoc Lincoln girls’ soccer team is starting to have other programs taking notice. They have posted victories over state-ranked Oostburg and Plymouth and played powerful Notre Dame Academy of Green Bay to a 1 all draw in their FRCC opener Tuesday night. Tonight, The Ships host the Lady Wildcats of Oshkosh West from the Fox Valley Association at Rubick Field. Match time is at 6:30 at Rubick Field.
Manitowoc Lutheran tries to improve to 2 and 2 as they host Cedar Grove Belgium, while the Kiel Raiders keep on rolling as they look to improve to 8- 0 on the season as they take a five-minute bus ride to New Holstein to battle the Huskies.
Roncalli/Two Rivers heads to Sheboygan Falls, Valders has a non-conference match in Little Chute.
There’s a good one at Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah as the 3-1 Resorters play host to 4-1 Howards Grove. The Tigers come to town looking to pitch their fourth consecutive shutout while Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah looks to bounce back after suffering their first loss of the season Tuesday to Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian.
Meanwhile, SLC hosts St. Mary Catholic, Sheboygan North hosts Appleton North Oostburg travels to Kohler, Ozaukee/Random Lake entertains Mayville, Denmark travels to Hortonville, Green Bay Preble welcomes Wausau West, Green Bay West heads crosstown to battle Green Bay East, Providence Academy/Green Bay New Lutheran tangles with Sturgeon Bay, De Per travels to Stevens Point Luxemburg Casco is home for Ashwaubenon and Kimberly travels to Pulaski to tangle with The Red Raiders.
BOYS TENNIS
The Manitowoc Lincoln Boys Tennis Team is scheduled to host the West De Pere Phantoms in their home opener this afternoon at Lincoln Park. Matches are scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
BOYS GOLF
The FRCC will convene at The Irish Course from Whistling Straits in Kohler for their second conference meet of the young season. Tee time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
Several Manitowoc and Sheboygan County schools converge at Riverdale Country Club in Sheboygan for a 9:00 a.m. tee time.
TRACK AND FIELD
Mishicot is set to host a multi-school co-ed track and field meet with schools scheduled to compete besides the host Indians, including Roncalli. Manitowoc Lutheran, Two Rivers, Kiel and Sheboygan North. Events are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
