A local farmers market has received grant funding.
Compeer Financial has announced that the Sheboygan County Interfaith Organization’s (SCIO) farmers market held at Fountain Park is one of 27 markets from across the state to receive more than $25,000 in grant funding to expand visibility and economic impact.
The funding is part of Compeer Giving’s Farmers Market Organization Grant program, and is intended to elevate the impact the markets have through marketing initiatives, technology, and education opportunities.
On the grants, Karen Schieler, manager of Compeer Giving, said, “Spring unofficially marks the opening of farmers markets, which serve as an opportunity to build community between consumers and area farmers. We’re pleased to support the role farmers’ markets play in enabling farmers to share their passion, helping consumers understand the care with which food is grown, and driving economic progress for rural communities.”
SCIO’s summer farmers market will return to Fountain Park for the first time this year on Wednesday, June 3rd, at 8:00 a.m.
The market will then be held every Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. through October 31st.
