The South 8th Street Lift Bridge in Manitowoc will not be usable for a while today (April 22nd).
As yesterday, the city is conducting an inspection and requires the area between Quay Street and Maritime Drive to be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Traffic on 8th Street will be detoured at Franklin Street to S.10th Street, then to Maritime Drive, and then back to 8th Street.
Traffic on the southbound side will be detoured along the same route in the opposite direction.
Manitowoc City Engineer Greg Minikel explains that the inspections are being done by the Wisconsin DOT.
