A Manitowoc man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a child roughly 50 times over a six-month span.
The investigation began on April 17th when the Manitowoc Police Department was called to investigate a report of a missing juvenile.
The missing child was said to be at a friend’s house, where they had confided that they had been sexually assaulted.
The officer spoke with the victim, whose name, age, and gender were redacted, and they claimed that a 66-year-old man had been sexually assaulting them multiple times per week since November.
They claimed that a majority of the assaults happened at their primary residences, with the most recent occurring on Tuesday of last week.
It was estimated that the suspect had sexually assaulted the child more than 50 times.
Detectives and higher-ups in the department were then called on Monday, as an officer had pulled the suspect over in the 1300 block of South 30th Street.
The man requested that his lawyer be present during the questioning and refused to provide consent for the detectives to search his phone.
The details of the questioning were not included in the report. He was placed into custody on charges of Sexual Assault of a Child and Repeated Acts of Sexual Assault of the Same Child.
