Manitowoc Public Utilities is being recognized for its reliability.
The city-run public utility received national recognition through the American Public Power Association, which represents more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities.
Senior Vice President of Grid Security Adrienne Lotto says she is continually inspired by the unwavering commitment of public power utilities to deliver reliable service to communities.
She continues noting that utilities like MPU, “have set the standard for excellence and dedication, ensuring that families and businesses can count on their local power providers every day.”
Nationwide, the average public power customer has their lights out for less time than customers of other types of utilities.
In 2025, MPU’s System Average Interruption Duration Index was 35 minutes compared to the average of all U.S. electric utilities, which is 169 minutes.
