Local cheese companies have gained two new Master Cheesemakers.
Plymouth, Wisconsin, considered the Cheese Capitol of the World, is home to Sargento Cheese and Sartori, which have welcomed in two of the state’s newest Master Cheesemakers.
Sartori’s newest Master Cheesemaker is Erin Radtke, a Plymouth native who grew just around the corner from the cheese plant where she now works.
On Radtke’s achievement, Sartori CEO Bert Sartori said, “Cheesemaking has always been at the heart of our company, and Erin embodies the passion, craftsmanship and dedication that continue to move that tradition forward today.”
This comes as an even more impressive feat for Radke as she is just the third woman to become a Master Cheesemaker in Wisconsin, joining her Sartori colleague Pam Hodgson.
For Sargento, Assistant Plant Manager at their St. Cloud location, Tim Entringer, was also among the 2026 class of Master Cheesemakers.
Louie Gentine, Chairman and CEO of Sargento, explained, “This recognition symbolizes Tim’s dedication, determination and passion for cheese. His journey is a great example of our culture and what has defined Sargento for more than 70 years, lifelong learning and a commitment to high-quality, natural cheese.”
The process of becoming a Master Cheesemaker is a long and arduous journey, requiring 10 years of being a licensed cheesemaker prior to three years of rigorous training and education.
Both Radtke and Entringer were named as Master Cheesemakers by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association on Thursday (April 16th).
