The 2026 Manitowoc County Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep dates have been announced.
Farms and Businesses can come to the Manitowoc County Highway Shop on Friday, May 15th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., while residents can drop off items on Saturday, May 16th, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.
Recycling Center Operations Manager Jon Reisenbuechler adds something new this year: truck beds and trailer full loads must be registered.
That must be done by May 8th.
Most common household items, including automotive products, household cleaners, pesticides, and home improvement products, will be accepted during the event, but, as always, several unacceptable items will not be accepted.
They include latex paints, explosives, tires, appliances, and more.
Those interested in dropping off items must be residents of Manitowoc County, prepare the items for transport, and expect traffic slowdowns.
The Manitowoc County Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep started back in 1985 and collected more than 1.2 million pounds of unwanted chemicals.
More information on what will and won’t be taken can be found on the Recycling Center webpage of manitowoccountywi.gov.
