A Sheboygan man is heading to prison for sexually assaulting a child.
Court records show that 49-year-old Nathan J. Calkins was recently in court for his sentencing after being found guilty by trial in February of First-Degree Child Sexual Assault – Sexual Contact or Sexual Intercourse with a Person Under the Age of 13.
At Calkins’ sentencing hearing, Judge Rebecca Persick ordered the 49-year-old to spend 20 years behind bars followed by 20 years of extended supervision. During Calkins’ two-day jury trial, it took the jurors less than 40 minutes of deliberation to find him guilty.
The lone charge he faced stemmed from an incident that is said to have occurred on January 1st, 2025.
The Sheboygan Press reports that Calkins sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl who was a friend of his daughter when she stayed over at their home for a New Year’s Eve party.
The investigation into the sexual assault was led by the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office and the Elkhart Lake Police Department.
