A Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice for the Manitowoc River in the city of Manitowoc.
The National Weather Service in Green Bay says that as of noon Wednesday (today), the bank full stage where the river is measured in Manitowoc was at 10.6 feet, which is two-point-six feet above the normal of 8 feet and an inch above the previous high crest of 10-and-a-half-feet recorded on March 26th,2008.
There are reports of up to a foot of water covering portions of Clay Pit Road, Broadway Street, and Park Road.
It is possible that levels could rise with more rain forecast to fall through Thursday afternoon and again Friday night through Saturday.
Several roads are closed throughout Manitowoc County, with more closures possible due to rising water levels.
Motorists are advised not to drive on barricaded roads or on or through water-covered roads, as currents and depths can be very deceptive, especially at night.
Meanwhile, a Flood Watch has been issued for all of Northeast, East Central, and North Central Wisconsin through Thursday (tomorrow) morning.
More showers and thunderstorms are expected over areas already oversaturated from several days of rain that began last Saturday, likely causing excessive runoff and flooding, with additional flood warnings possible.
Those who live in flood-prone areas are advised to monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to act should flooding occur or intensify.
