An early morning fire at a Madison apartment complex has left one resident and their dog without a home.
Fire crews responded around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday on a report of smoke on the city’s west side.
The resident said they were awakened by noise, and upon opening their bedroom door, encountered heat and smoke.
They were able to escape safely with their dog through a patio door.
No injuries were reported.
At this time, investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
