The Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra has named its next executive director.
Jennifer Spiering is taking over the role, bringing strong local roots and a ton of professional experience in music, education, and nonprofit administration.
Jennifer, a Manitowoc native, holds a Master of Arts in Psychology of Music from the University of Sheffield (UK) and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry and French from Valparaiso University, with additional study abroad experience through Boston University in Paris, France.
Most recently, Jennifer has served as an Elementary Music Teacher with Manitowoc Public Schools.
The MSO Board and Search Committee specifically pointed to Jennifer’s combination of artistic grounding, administrative capability, relationship-building skills, and genuine commitment to community arts as reasons she was selected for the job.
Spiering voiced her excitement to begin her new adventure, saying, “I look forward to supporting the orchestra’s work and helping continue to grow meaningful musical experiences for audiences across the region.”
Outgoing Director Peggy Pitz will retire after serving 27 years as MSO Executive Director.
During a concert last Saturday, Mayor Justin Nickels made comments about Pitz before presenting her with the Key to the City.
