A Luxemburg man has entered his plea for a fatal drunk driving crash earlier this year.
FOX11 reports 69-year-old Douglas Proehl entered a not guilty plea to two charges he faces for the crash that killed 17-year-old Chloe Bishop and injured her father, Danny.
Brown County Judge Marc C. Hammer also denied a bond modification, leaving his cash bail at $500,000.
Updated blood test results also show that Proehl had a blood alcohol concentration of .115, almost double the legal limit of .08.
A criminal complaint alleges that a video shows the 69-year-old hitting the Bishop’s vehicle, going through a red light at Lombardi Avenue, and hitting the passenger side of the car entering the intersection.
Police say that a field sobriety test done on Proehl showed several signs of intoxication.
Eventually, the suspect refused to do a One Leg Stand Test and was arrested after saying, “I don’t really give an (expletive), let’s knock off the (expletive). If you feel, though, I’m incapable of driving, let’s do it now.”
Proehl would also later say at the hospital, “they drove in front of me,” and He will be back in court on July 20th for a status conference.
No trial date was set.
