A huge crowd turned out at Manitowoc Lutheran High School Sunday afternoon for the 2026 Manitowoc County Basketball All-Star Game.
Event organizer Joel Kubsch tells seehafernews.com that all eight county schools, plus Brillion, were represented by some of the best senior boys’ and girls’ basketball players from this past season.
“The turnout was fantastic,” he said. “This community loves basketball, and they showed up to support these great student athletes who put on their high school uniform one last time to play the game they love.”
The event featured a three-point shooting contest plus boys and girls contests where defense was optional, leaving fans entertained by the athletes on the floor.
In the girls’ contest, the east defeated the west 308 to 295, while the east also took care of business in the boys’ game by a score of 254 to 220.
Kiel senior Logan Brunner had a huge day, winning the three-point contest and then taking East MVP honors by knocking down 8 three-point shots as part of a game-high 29 points.
“I work a lot on my form before every game,” he explained. “I focus on the front of the rim and try to swish five shots from three spots on the floor before each game. That gets me going and if I do that, I’m generally hot after that.”
Manitowoc Lincoln senior Jack Bauer was named the West MVP, scoring a team-high 24 points. Lincoln senior Sarah Bolchen was named the girls’ East MVP, scoring a team high 16 points and dishing out a lot of beautiful assists.
Brillion senior Amaya Brooks led all scorers with 23 points, being named the West MVP, and senior Courtney Dvorachek of Reedsville captured the girls’ three-point shooting contest.
Brunner says the day was special.
“I’ve known a lot of these guys from playing with them in AAU,” he noted. “It’s great to get together one last time and get something special together for communities in the area.”
Fans were asked to donate canned goods and give financially if able, and Joel Kubsch says they responded in kind.
“It looks like we have quite a few canned goods that we can donate to Peter’s Pantry (in Manitowoc),” he revealed. “The monetary donations will be helpful to prepare for next year’s game.”
Plans are already in the works for next year’s game, with specifics to be released soon.
