The City of Two Rivers honored a long-time member of their Plan Commission last week.
Kay Koach was recognized last week for her time of service in the city and received a proclamation and key from the city.
City Manager Kyle Kordell explains that Koach served for 28 years on the Plan Commission and 13 years on the city council from 2005 to 2018.
The proclamation also stated, “Kay is widely known as a strong, no-nonsense leader, and a true Two Rivers character, whose presence has been felt at countless community events and whose passion for baking has brought joy to many people, including the police and fire departments.”
Kordell finished the proclamation, saying that Koach’s legacy is defined by her deep love for Two Rivers, its people, and the countless lives she has positively impacted.
Koach spoke about the seventh generation of her family who joined her that evening.
“When I think back on the map of Two Rivers, and if you can envision 14th Street going toward Bucholz, an old farm barn out there where my dad’s grandfather lived, yeah, it just keeps tumbling on down,” she said. “I’m very proud of all of them.”
Tracey Koach, who’s also served on the city council, will take her mother’s spot on the plan commission, keeping the Koach name in city government.
