
The Manitowoc Lutheran Lancer baseball team defeated the Cameron Comets 7-2 in their season opener at the Mauston Invitational this (Friday) afternoon.
The Lancers set the tone early by scoring three times in the bottom of the first inning, adding two more in the third along with single tallies in the fourth and fifth innings to keep the Comets at bay.
Logan Haupt had three of the Lancers’ nine hits with an RBI. Beau Luebke and Wesley Hecker had a hit and an RBI each, while Will Franzen, Oliver Stuebs, Joshiah Martin, and Isiah Hochmuth had a hit apiece, and Collin Rounds had two RBI without an official at bat.
Josiah Martin pitched the first two innings for the Lancers, allowing an earned run on two hits, with Drew Staudt pitching the final five innings, allowing an earned run on four hits, to earn the win.
Meanwhile, the Lancers were defeated by the Straford Tigers 8 to 0 in their second game of the day in Mauston. They were limited to just two base hits, both recorded by Joel Voight.
Aaden Krause took the loss on the monud giving up four etaned runs on six hits i four innings of work.
The Lancers will play Gilman in their third and final game in Mauston at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.
