Disabled workers will receive greater financial flexibility under a new law written by an Eastern Wisconsin Senator.
Act 225 was signed into law this week by Governor Tony Evers, removing a cap on the percentage of income disabled adults on Medicaid could deposit into their Medicaid Purchase Plan (MAPP) Independence Account.
The measure was introduced by Senator Andre Jacque, who said, “Disabled individuals who want to work should not be penalized for attempting to improve their life circumstances. This common-sense approach to protect disabled Wisconsin workers on Medicaid will encourage individuals with disabilities to live full, independent and productive lives.”
Act 225 received support from the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Department of Health Services.
