A celebration of radio, 100 years in the making.
About 250 people joined Seehafer Broadcasting for WOMT 100’s Hungry for History, put on in conjunction with Rummele’s Fine Jewelry in Manitowoc and the Manitowoc County Historical Society.
After a delicious dinner catered by Our Legacy Restaurant, attendees were treated to a presentation by Seehafer Broadcasting Vice President Terry Stevenson on the 1926 launch of WOMT, which went on the air from the second floor of the Mikadow Theater on Washington Street.
His message about what WOMT has done for the community and everything the station has gone through in 100 years, from the Great Depression through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Attendees were also treated to a video of past and present employees sharing their experiences working at WOMT, along with a video of Seehafer Broadcasting Founder Don Seehafer and an explanation of why he loved what he did.
Operations Manager Jim Medley then took the mic as the emcee, asking Stevenson and WOMT’s legendary personalities, Lee Douglas and Damon Ryan, about their time in radio.
In a Facebook video after the event, Stevenson called the night amazing and thanked everyone who attended.
For those who might have missed it, you can see the presentation again on Thursday, October 15th, live on stage at PetSkull Brewing Company.
