The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office has announced its 2025-26 law enforcement and corrections officer of the year.
Detective Nate Steber was selected as the Law Enforcement Officer of the year because of his reputation as a driven, dependable, and highly professional investigator.
Steber has also played key roles in major investigations, serves as an assistant SWAT Team leader, works closely with federal partners, and consistently goes above and beyond in support of his team.
Sargant James Ott has been recognized as the Corrections Officer of the Year for the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office.
The department calls Ott a reliable, steady presence in the agency, known for his professionalism, positive attitude, and willingness to help others, even before he’s on the clock.
One co-worker wrote about his dedication to making everyone’s job easier, saying, “Respect and courtesy are the definition of James Ott… he is a great representation of an officer at the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office.”
Ott and Steber will be recognized at the Officer of the Year Banquet on Saturday, May 2nd, at the Eagles Club in Manitowoc.
