A Manitowoc man charged after a string of violent sexual assaults has been released from custody.
Court records show that 41-year-old Richard L. Krueger has furnished his $5,000 cash bail after being charged with three counts of Second-Degree Sexual Assault with the Use of Force, and one count each of Disorderly Conduct and Battery, all of which carry domestic violence modifiers.
This comes after Krueger and his legal counsel were able to get the court to cut his original $10,000 cash bail in half.
In the time since his bail was lowered, probable cause was found in his case, and he was bound over for trial.
On the same day, the 41-year-old pleaded not guilty to all charges he faces.
In January, Manitowoc Police responded to a report of an individual who was the victim of repeated sexual assault.
The victim and a witness told authorities that, over the past two days, Krueger forcibly sexually assaulted her on numerous occasions and physically struck and bit her when she refused his aggressive, non-consensual sexual advances.
The victim also told police, “If you guys let him loose, he’s going to kill me.”
After making contact with Krueger, he told them he “would never hurt a woman” before being placed under arrest.
Despite posting his bail, Krueger is still under a strict no-contact order with the victim or the residence where the incidents took place.
He will return to court on Tuesday (April 14th) for a scheduling conference.
