More details have emerged regarding a Plymouth woman stealing thousands of dollars from a local 4H group.
50-year-old Stacy Limberg has been charged with one felony count of Theft-Business Setting $10,000 to $100,000 after she admitted to police that she wrote and cashed fraudulent checks using money from the Sheboygan County Junior 4H Dairy Project during her time serving as the group’s Treasurer.
This was brought to the attention of authorities after Limberg was voted out as Treasurer earlier this year, and the newly elected Treasurer noticed discrepancies in what Limberg reported and in the actual bank statements.
The criminal complaint further explains that in 2024, Limberg wrote a total of eight fraudulent checks to her husband, her daughter, and other non-4H-affiliated organizations, totaling $29,600.
However, she admitted to the police that, in fact, she cashed these checks herself at a bank while her family had zero knowledge of her actions.
When interviewed by the Sheboygan Police Department, she told officers that she stole money intended for scholarships and a Dairy Project group trip to Scotland because “she had to pay farm costs, repair costs of machinery on the farm, and medical costs.”
After the final fraudulent check was cashed, Limberg made a deposit of just over $6,000 into the Dairy Project account in an attempt to repay a portion of the stolen money, bringing the account’s outstanding total and the amount stolen to $23,350.
At this time, Limberg is waiting for her arraignment to be scheduled in Sheboygan County court.
Until then, she is free on a $7,500 signature bond.
