A Newton resident is making his mark on TikTok.
Devin Argall, whose profile on the app is called Snack Check With Devin, has reached 100,000 + followers in just two months. The 24-year-old tries different snacks and tells everyone what he thinks about them.
But if you’ve seen his channel, you know there is something different about him.
Devin has a condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, meaning his muscles deteriorate and he’s unable to rebuild them.
But that doesn’t stop him from doing what he likes to do, telling SeehaferNews.com that he likes to look at the positive things in life.
Devin says he started on TikTok by trying a snack one day and posting the video on the app.
“People like it,” he stated. “So then, I was going to do it two times a week, Tuesday and Thursday. And people really liked that, so they’re like, you should do more and more. And I was like, alright, so I’ll just start doing it every day. So I posted every day, and people have been sending me snacks and gifts, and they’ve been liking it.”
He says he gets his snacks from all over the world through an Amazon Wish List.
“These people sent snacks from Finland and the UK,” he said. “So, all over the place.”
One of his favorite snacks he’s tried was pickle straws, but all of them have passed his test.
Devin said he “Tried this sweet potato candy stuff, or snack. IT wasn’t very good. I was like dried sweet potato; it wasn’t very good.”
The 24-year-old says it was pretty cool and that he was amazed he hit 100,000 followers.
He will keep posting on TikTok because he wants to continue raising awareness about Duchenne muscular dystrophy and because he likes making people happy with what he’s doing.
Devin’s mother, Dawn, says she is very proud of her son.
“He’s just comfortable, making his decision on if he likes it or not,” she added. “It’s just crazy how it just took off.”
Devin is also raising money to get another wheelchair so he can go hunting in the future. That link can be found on his TikTok account.
