A Sturgeon Bay man who allegedly shot at police officers will be going to trial.
Manuel Ponce was in court yesterday (April 2nd) for his preliminary hearing, where he waived that right and was bound over for trial.
He is facing five counts of Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, six counts of 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and single counts each of Criminal Damage to Property, Possession of Cocaine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, all linked to an incident on October 2nd, 2025.
FOX11 reports that Door County Sheriff’s Deputies and officers with the Sturgeon Bay Police Department were called to a home on County Highway C, where they heard gunshots coming from inside the residence.
Additional shots were fired as the officers approached the home. Ponce was eventually arrested, but not before he caused significant damage to the property.
He remains in the Door County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond and is due for his arraignment in front of Judge Jennifer Moeller on April 20th.
