There are numerous local and area baseball teams slated to kick off their seasons today.
Two Rivers is travelling to Luxemburg Casco, Kiel hosting Sturgeon Bay, Denmark opens at home against Southern Door, Sheboygan Falls entertains St. Anthony of Milwaukee, Kohler/Sheboygan Christian hosts Oconto, Ozaukee heads to Kewaskum, Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah visits Milwaukee Riverside/Golda Meir, Cedar Grove/Belgium hosts New Holstein, Hilbert heads to Wrightstown, Green Bay Preble is home for Oshkosh West and West De Pere travels to Seymour to battle the Thunder.
Meanwhile, tonight in girls’ softball, Manitowoc Lincoln opens its season at home, entertaining the Fond Du Lac Cardinals at Citizens Park.
The Ships finished seventh in a very competitive FRCC and had an overall record of 8- 16 last season. They accomplished this with a very young roster that featured only two seniors (Maddie Johnson and Rayna Schuh).
However, third-year head coach Todd Meyer has reason to be optimistic this spring as this young roster has a year of experience under its belt. They welcome the addition of seniors Taylor Petersen and Jordin Popp, who qualified for the WIAA girls’ individual state tennis tournament in the fall.
In fact, Meyer has five seniors to lean on, with Grace Novak, Avah Tome, and Paige Novak all counted on to be major contributors in 2026. Fond Du Lac topped the Ships in last year’s season opener 14-7 in Fond Du Lac.
The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 4:30 p.m.
In girls’ soccer, Denmark plays at Ashwaubenon, Sheboygan South heads to crosstown rival Sheboygan North, Sheboygan Falls visits Kohler, Plymouth heads to Cedar Grove/Belgium, Lomira hosts New Holstein, Winneconne welcomes Ozaukee/Random Lake, Appleton North entertains Luxemburg-Casco, and Pulaski opens at home against the Marshfield Tigers.
