A Two Rivers Public School technical education teacher has been recognized for his work.
Jake Haag was given the Wisconsin Technical Education Award of Excellence during an Excellence in Education Awards event in the Wisconsin Dells.
Superintendent Diane Johnson explained during last week’s school board meeting that the district wrote a letter of recommendation because Haag provides a high-quality education to students.
In his finalist announcement, TRPS says Haag consistently goes above and beyond the classroom by actively engaging his students in meaningful, real-world projects that directly benefit the community.
Through construction classes, “students have designed and built city dugouts, constructed a bridge providing access to the school forest, and repaired or rebuilt aging decks for city homeowners in need.”
Haag was also recognized for developing partnerships with businesses like Bartow Builders, Braun Building Center, Truss Plan, VT Industries, and Lakeshore College, among others.
The tech ed teacher also serves as a SkillsUSA Advisor and as a co-advisor for the Formula Student/Formula Racing Club.
