
A semi caught fire on I-41 near Grand Chute yesterday morning (March 30th).
The Grand Chute Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Northbound I-41 south of Highway 15 at 7:10 a.m. on a report of a semi that had caught fire.
The driver was able to exit the truck before help arrived, allowing the firefighters to immediately begin attacking the blaze.
The fire was brought under control by the first unit on scene, but the northbound section of the highway was closed for several hours for additional fire suppression, overhaul operations, and roadway cleanup.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was reported to have started when the semi-truck blew a tire and crashed into a construction barrier.
The Grand Chute Fire Department was aided by the Grand Chute Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Outagamie County Communications Center.
