A proposal to rename parts of County Highway K in Washington County after Charlie Kirk is no longer being considered.
The county’s executive committee sent two resolutions that would rename it after Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was shot and killed last fall.
Even though the proposal advanced, committee members said they wouldn’t recommend its approval due to opposition from the public.
County officials also said the cost of renaming it would be too expensive, costing about $50,000.
