A Nicaraguan woman living in Manitowoc has been arrested on a child abuse charge.
The Manitowoc Police Department was called to investigate after a worker with Youth Justice received a text from an individual stating that they were being abused.
The victim told police that the suspect, who was identified by her Nicaraguan Passport, hit them because they missed school.
They claimed that the woman had struck them with a stick and a belt.
A translator was called to the scene as the officers spoke with the 41-year-old suspect, who admitted to striking the child with a stick and a belt because the child was skipping class and not completing homework on time.
The age of the victim was redacted from the police report.
The woman was arrested on a charge of Physical Abuse of a Child.
