The Manitowoc County SWAT team was called into action over the weekend.
The Manitowoc Police Department was dispatched to the 5100 block of Expo Drive on Sunday after it was learned that a male suspect had physically assaulted a woman.
Lieutenant Mark Schroeder tells SeehaferNews.com that during the course of the assault, a rifle had been fired.
The suspect was still believed to be inside the residence when police arrived, and investigators had reason to believe he was still in possession of multiple firearms.
The SWAT team was called to the scene, where they made a tactical entry and arrested the 42-year-old Manitowoc resident without further incident.
He is being held on charges of Battery, Recklessly Endangering Safety, Disorderly Conduct, and Strangulation.
