The Mishicot girls’ softball team will try to bounce back today after a rough first outing of the season.
The Indians traveled to Tennessee for a series of matchups, including a game against Hilliard Darby on Sunday.
The Panthers plated 4 runs right out of the gate, but it appeared as though the Indians would be able to keep pace, adding a pair of their own in the first inning.
However, it was all Panthers from there, as Mishicot ended up falling 14-3.
Sophomore Pitcher Lexie Thor was chased from the mound after two innings, where she gave up 7 runs on 8 hits, while her classmate, Nevaeh Malchek, closed out the matchup, giving up the remaining 7 runs on 5 hits.
She did tack on seven strikeouts in the process.
At the plate, the Indians could only muster three hits off the bats, two of which came off the bats of Malcheck and fellow Sophomore Cooper Brouchoud, each of which resulted in an RBI.
Brouchoud’s hit was a solid one, going for a triple.
The final hit was tallied by Senior Sydney Bohman.
The Indians will try to even their early-season record at 1-1 as they face Twinsburg today.
The only other area game on the docket is a matchup between Howards Grove and St. Mary Catholic.
