A local nonprofit is in desperate need of aid to continue to support families requiring aid.
The Lakeshore Community Action Plan (CAP) has shared that they are critically low on funds to support their Hotel Voucher Program.
This program is an essential tool to keep families off the streets and out of the elements when they are unable to access local shelters.
In Sheboygan, emergency shelters serving families with children are often full.
In order to combat this, Lakeshore CAP’s Hotel Voucher Program supplies funds to those families to place them in hotels overnight before a follow-up the next day to provide additional resources.
However, at this time, in order to keep the program going, it needs public support.
Donations to the program can be made online or through the mail.
Those looking to help out online can do so by visiting the Lakeshore CAP Facebook page while physical donations can be addressed to Lakeshore CAP, PO Box 2315, Manitowoc, WI, 54221, and note the donation is intended for the Sheboygan Hotel Voucher Program.
Since October, the program has assisted 23 children, and the Sheboygan County Warming Center has noted that this program assists the families that they are unable to.
