The first vessel of the 2026 shipping season has arrived in the Port of Green Bay.
The Algocanada arrived on March 23rd at 10:42 a.m., carrying a shipment of petroleum products.
The Algocanada measures in at 130 meters long, 20 meters wide, and has a cargo capacity of nearly 11,500 tons.
With the arrival of the Algocanada, the 2026 First Ship Contest sponsored by Discover Green Bay has officially concluded.
The winner of this year’s contest is Chad Peters of Sagola, Michigan, who was off by only one hour on his guess.
Peters will receive a one-night stay at the historic Hotel Northland, a Port of Green Bay swag bag, a 200th Anniversary Brown County Monopoly Game, four admission tickets to N.E.W. museums, and dinner for two at The Depot.
Dean Haen, the Director of the Port of Green Bay, noted, “Once again, a new shipping season has kicked off, only about a week later than the season began in 2025. This timely start has us eagerly looking ahead at what the 2026 season will hold.”
